Dear Men and women, I hope all is well back home.
ReplyDeleteI should say I am overwhelmed at the idea that we now have a government that we can call our won. That we have a platform from where we can start addressing our problems, because that is what I and many Taitas have experienced ever since, so for the the dawn is here, let us wake up, cease this moment and do that which will bring development to our people.
Of course toursim is going to be a great vehicle towards achieving some of our goals and this will entail a lot of work. It is not going to be an easy ride. Reality is biting I kow. Managment of our resources, now that they are God given should be at the top of the list. We should start by educating our people to take care of what we have as it will help us stride towards achieving our goals. Of course when it comes to our fuana, most are bitter since they do not really benefit. Our government should start putting strategies in place to make sure that people start feeling and actually benefiting from the same. We shall needs hotels restaurants, and so many other ininitiatives where we can put our people to work. There is need to bring in government-private partnershinps to build these infraestructures, and in turn CRS programmes aimed at educating our people, and why not a hotel school in Taita. We are a major destination in Kenya and most know that, our county is the most attractive in the whole country. Let us pride ourselves by marketing not only the national parks, but for example our cultural and traditional practices, hiking all the way from Mwatate, or Bura to Vuria and Wundanyi all the way to kishushe, Mwangoji and so on and so on, the list goes on. Let us carry out credible statistics of our toursist attractions and market them to the world.
I am proud to be a Taita-Maasai born and brought up in the county and hope the timing is right and that we can make a big name out of our homeland.
Tujigambeni kuwa wataita and let us work hard. And to our leaders, please do not let us down, we are behind you and ready to make sure you succeed.
