Taita Taveta Senator Dan Mwazo has intervened in a row between the executive committee and county assembly. The row followed the swearing in of county executive members by Governor John Mruttu after they were rejected by county assembly members.
Last Friday, Mwazo held a closed door meeting with both parties and asked them to solve their differences amicably. On Monday, Mruttu held a closed door meeting with the assembly members at Wundanyi where the two parties deliberated on the matter.
Yesterday, a county assembly member who attended the meeting told the Star on the phone that they discussed the removal of three executive members and two public service committee members who the representatives had rejected."The county assembly members told the governor to scrap the names of three county executive committee members and two public service members and advertise their jobs," he said.
Another member said the governor apologised to the leaders and admitted he had made a mistake.
"We thank our senator for his intervention because the supremacy battle between the executive and the assembly was going too far. This has adversely affected development in the county," the representative said.
Maktau ward representative Flumence Mshilla said nothing had been agreed on in the meeting.
Mshila who has also taken the matter to the High Court in Mombasa said the case is slated for Thursday this week.
